Carl Jung famously said, “Dreams are the guiding words of the soul.” Dream incubation is a way of inviting the soul, the higher self or the unconscious into direct contact with our waking consciousness. Ancient Egyptians and Greeks utilized dream incubation thousands of years ago as a practice of looking to one's dream experiences and the intelligence of the unconscious mind to encourage self healing and the resolution of life's most confounding issues and problems. They understood how trauma, creativity, memory, and healing are expressed and metabolized through our dream experiences. This workshop begins with an exploration of the ancient history of dream incubation as a method of developing self-knowledge and healing imbalances.Together, we will formulate clear intentions and questions to be addressed in the dream state, inviting the mind-body to communicate its wisdom through its own language of symbol, metaphor and sensation. We will use guided visualization, Yoga Nidra, automatic writing and psychodramatic techniques as tools for exploring purposeful dream work. Each of us will act as dreamers and witnesses as we share and integrate our dream narratives. We are especially enthusiastic about inviting people who have difficulty remembering their dreams. We will provide mats, snacks and beverages. Please dress comfortably and bring your own blanket, a pillow if desired and something to cover your eyes.
